Job overview

We are looking for dynamic individuals willing to take on a new challenge to join our friendly team due to investment in training. Endoscopy as a speciality is a great learning environment and full of exciting diverse career progression opportunities, this is just the beginning.

The post holder will train in either upper or lower gastrointestinal endoscopy, the modality will be decided at interview. We currently have a team of seven clinical endoscopists and we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and motivated to join our team. As a team we run a number of services including the PEG service, Barrett’s oesophagus and surveillance endoscopy. We work closely with the clinical team and have a mentorship and robust induction programme.

The Endoscopy service consists of 8 rooms across both Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital. We are expanding our service to up to 11 rooms; an exciting state of the art Endoscopy building has started. This is a leading development in endoscopy services and one of the largest in the country. The post holder will be required to work across both sites.

The post will commence on a training programme as a band 6 with a band 7 upon successful completion of training.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide an expert specialist nursing service for patients who required upper and lower endoscopy procedures. The role includes acting as a specialist resource in developing practice on the endoscopy unit in order to maintain appropriate clinical standards and accreditation. The post holder will work with the Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) to develop/ review Endoscopy policies and guidelines. They will audit the delivery of Endoscopy procedures/outcomes and mortality. The post holder will work across all Trust sites to deliver expert care.

Qualifications

  • Evidence of a degree in Gastroenterology or experience in gastroenterology /endoscopy
  • Teaching qualification
  • Possession of 1st degree or equivalent level of study/experience
  • Teaching qualification

Experience

  • Evidence of iv cannulation and phlebotomy
  • Evidence of recent teaching, mentorship and supervision of staff
  • Gastroenterology experience
  • Evidence of theorectical and practical skills in iv care and management
  • Evidence of change management
