We have an AMAZING opportunity for a Childrens Support Worker to join an OUTSTANDING rated 4- bed children's residential service in Hereford, Herefordshire, supporting young people between the ages of 14-17with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviours.

You will be committed, passionate and able to engage, encourage and mentor the young people, whilst having a whole lot of fun! Getting paid to play computer games, have movie nights & do arts and crafts

**Due to the nature of the job and the activities involved, we are only able to consider applicants who have a full driver's licence and a car**

Overview of a Children's Support Worker



  • £27,336 to £30,336 (sleep allowance included)


  • Location: Herefordshire


  • Hours: Full-time,39 hours per week (169 hours a month) Part- time hours are also available


  • Shift Pattern: Varied shift pattern

The role of a Children's Support Worker

What you will be doing as a Childrens Residential Support Worker



  • To encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.


  • To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.


  • To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.


  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.


  • Provide support for the children and young people in the home and to promote their independence and well-being.


  • Maintain a safe environment for young people.


  • Ensuring the safety of the students and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.


  • Supporting poor behaviour safely and sympathetically.


  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.

The successful candidate:

What you will need to be a successful Childrens Support Worker



  • Experience as a Children's Support Worker, or within a similar social care setting or with Young People is desirable but not essential.


  • MUST be a driver as you will be required to transport the young people from time to time


  • You must be over the age of 23


  • You MUST be an empathetic and relatable person, have good listening and communication skills, and a natural instinct to help others
