AtBath &North East Somerset Council wehave one overriding purpose – to improve people’s lives.This is a great opportunity to make a difference at the Council in a senior technical role with responsibility for defining and leading our strategy in relation to the Microsoft 365 suite of products. As well as setting the strategy this role will also drive our adoption and use of these products, ensuring we are maximising the benefits from their increased use across all the Council’s service areas (approx. 2,500 staff). The role provides a fantastic chance to make a significant impact to the way the Council operates as a result of increased and better use of the 365 product suite (including new technologies such as Microsoft Co-Pilot). The role will be responsible for managing our Microsoft licensing and enterprise agreement, as well as the Microsoft 365 product roadmap(s), ensuring we are adopting and realising benefits as early as possible.What you will doDefine and lead the Council’s strategy for the Microsoft 365 suite of products.Be our technical authority for Microsoft 365, working alongside other senior IT staff including our other two Chief Technologists (for Infrastructure and Networks & Cyber Security).Drive our research & development of new solutions using the Microsoft suite, creating innovation and new opportunities for service improvement and/or reducing cost. Manage our Microsoft licensing and enterprise agreement, ensuring we are maximising the benefits and driving down costs where possible.Work closely with service areas and teams across the Council to identify opportunities for improvement through better and deeper use of these products. Then helping them to plan and embed the adoption, both of existing 365 tools in use and those we are not yet using.Mentor and provide support & training to other colleagues in the IT department (and beyond) to ensure our internal teams are fully aware of new developments, the opportunities resulting from them, as well as any implications on their role or work.Who you are?We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is passionate about the use of technology and the benefits it can bring to both the Council’s delivery of services as well as the community we serve. You will enjoy working with a diverse range of teams across the Council to identify opportunities and improvements using the Microsoft 365 suite, and working closely with them to plan and implement appropriate solutions and processes.We are interested in people who have:Considerable experience in the Microsoft 365 suite of products and services.
