Chief Scientific Officer

Job DescriptionOur client has over 30 years’ history in the Nutraceutical and Pharmaceutical industry and has played a key role in driving innovation and increasing awareness. They sell products in over 45 countries and have ambitious plans to continue their international expansion delivering strong and consistent double-digit growth.We are looking a CSO to join the team as a visionary leader to set the group’s strategic direction and oversee the design and delivery of research programs while providing leadership to the R+D team.R&D's primary role is to provide a steady pipeline of new, and/or improved products which have-the potential to significantly grow the business. In addition, the CSO will give scientific guidance and input wherever required; this may include dealings with regulatory authorities, competitor challenges, legal cases, and issues that arise where a robust and measured scientific approach is required.Desired Skills & ExperienceA degree or (preferably) PhD in a scientific disciplineAt least 10 years industry experience in similar senior roles (from any industry)Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and IT skillsExcellent time management skillsThis person will be:A quick learnerPosses scientific credibilityAn excellent communicatorA self-motivatorFlexibleHard workingEnthusiasticA team playerAble to manage and prioritise multiple demandsAble to negotiate business arrangements with customers and suppliersHave proficient core technical knowledgeThe post holder will be expected to: Act with honesty and integrity at all times Demonstrate high standards of personal conduct Value and respect colleagues and other members of staff Work with others to develop and improve our services Take personal responsibility for their words and actions and the quality of service they deliver
