One of my key clients in the EV Sector is hiring a Chief / Lead Battery Performance Engineer to work at their site in Oxfordshire. The Chief / Lead Battery Performance Engineer will join the Battery Systems Department and support the development of battery performance across all electrification programmes in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment. This role is a Technical Engineering focussed position leading the development of Battery Systems & Performance.
Chief / Lead Battery Performance Engineer
Oxfordshire Hybrid WFH (2-3 Days on site per week - Varied) £80k to £100k (Negotiable) + Relocation Support Sponsorship Offered
Key Responsibilities:
Advancing electrical, thermal, and electrochemical battery performance and safety.
Generating battery system concepts from system level requirements by cell selection and pack sizing.
Defining battery test plans and procedures to validate battery system performance and safety.
Analysing battery data from tests, race events, and fleet operations.
Determining battery performance and safety through model simulations.
Manage a small team of engineers and provide technical mentorship.
Engaging with stakeholders at all levels as a battery performance representative.
Representing the company externally as a battery system technical expert for ongoing project delivery, business development, and academic partnerships.
Key Skills & Experience:
A qualification in a STEM course or relevant equivalent experience.
Strong experience in battery data analysis in MATLAB.
Strong experience in battery systems modelling and simulations.
Advanced understanding of HV battery systems and their safety strategies.
Great understanding of battery cell technologies.
Experience in battery system development programmes.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
