You will support the Mission Systems Head of Software and Head of Technology Delivery in ensuring that all software produced is safe and compliant to all relevant customer, regulatory and legislative requirements. The role will report into the Head of Software and will be responsible for the quality of delivered software and associated documentation across all Mission Systems contracts across Land, Sea, Air and Space domains.Day to day, you’ll ensure that our software policies and processes are mature, robust, affordable and meet necessary regulatory and legislative requirements. Working with the Quality discipline to ensure these are embedded in our Quality Management System.Other Key Duties of the Chief Software Engineer Include:• Understanding current and future software process requirements, ensuring that Mission Systems policies and processes are adapted accordingly• Overseeing the software content on Mission Systems bids and contracts, providing leadership and direction• Working with software delivery teams within Mission Systems to ensure that robust designs, architecture, coding, testing and documentation are produced, and that appropriate processes have been followed• Ensuring the quality of software delivery, identifying, and raising technical risks to senior engineering leadership• Subject matter expert for software development and delivery throughout the software development lifecycle, supporting delivery and bid teams with this expertiseThis role is permanent and full time post, consisting of 37 weekly hours of work. The role will be based in Bristol (BTC) but with flexibility of hybrid, working from home options available too. There is a requirement to travel to Plymouth/Tewkesbury offices when needed.Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. We are happy to consider flexible, blended working, including part-time, condensed hours, and job sharing.
