Chief Accountant

We are looking for a diligent Chief Accountant to join a north London local authority on an interim basis. The role will be to assist with managing the closure of the accounts team, ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines and serving as the primary contact between the council and external auditors.Client DetailsA north London local authority. DescriptionThe Chief Accountant will be responsible for: Managing a team of three Finance Managers looking after capital accounting closedown timetable compliance and liaising between the closing team, finance department and other authority departments. Overseeing the closure of the accounts team, ensuring timely production of accounts related issues in accordance with statutory deadlines. Acting as the primary contact for external auditors and dealing with audit related queries. ProfileThe successful Chief Accountant will be a Qualified Accountant with proven experience of financial management and accounting in a similar role within a local authority or large public sector organisation. You will have staff management experience, preferably of Qualified Accountants, and a strong understanding of statutory accounting principles, regulations, and reporting requirements. Excellent communication skills are essential for the this position. Job OfferThis role will be inside of IR35 and pay an interim rate of £476 (£600 umbrella).
