Broxbourne Borough Council are small to medium sized local government authority based on the outskirts of London. This Hertfordshire based council offers it borough a variety of different services include Waste Management, Housing and Community and Leisure. You will be part of an establish finance team made up of long serving employees.This is an exciting time to join as they look to build a finance team that can improve the way they manage their finance's its impact on the wider organisation.About the RoleAs the Chief Accountant you will lead in the production of the Council's statutory financial accounts. Liaising as required with the Financial Services Manager, the external auditor and other bodies as required.You will also be a key contact with the external auditor in relation to the audit of the statutory accounts and ensure that the Council's arrangements and published accounts are maintained in compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements and good practice.You will do this with the support if the wider finance team and a CIPFA trainee who you will Line ManageYou will also lead on the presentation of the Medium-Term Financial Strategy to elected Members. This will see you liaising with the Financial Services Manager and other Senior Managers to produce the Medium-Term Financial Strategy and lead financial support in the preparation and subsequent monitoring of funding bids.Finally, you will work closely with the Council's Digital Transformation team to continue to improve the quality of life for local communities and put local people at the heart of everything the Council does, continually driving forward customer service improvements throughout the Council.About YouACCA/CIPFA Qualified AccountantExperience of working the Financial Accounting function of a Local Government OrganisationA strong Excel user, being to perform V-Look-Ups, Pivot Tables, Sum-if's ETCAbility to present to Senior Management and non-finance colleagues.Experience in Financial Planning ideally medium termConfident in dealing with Audit queries and strong resolution skills.To apply for this role and attend an interview with me for this role, please contact Luke Grant-Maw on 0333 010 3710.
