To ensure that an individual programme of care is planned, implemented and evaluated for each patient within own sphere of responsibility. To work as part of the multidisciplinary team ensuring the delivery of a high standard of care to the patients. Support patients and carers in their information needs To take charge of the day unit in the absence of the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse as required To participate in all relevant aspects of the Governance process. The post holder will adhere to the NMC code of Professional Conduct at all times and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures. To safely administer chemotherapy in keeping with local and national policy To act as a positive role model at all times.

oFirst Level registration nursing qualification o Recognised Chemotherapy/SACT course oEvidence of continuing professional development oIV drug administration certificate oBSc Nursing or related subject or working towards.
Desirable
oRelevant post-registration qualification in cancer oAdvanced Communication Skills Training oAssessors /Mentorship qualification /Teaching Qualification o Completed UKONS SACT Competency Passport
Knowledge & ExperienceEssential
o2 years Oncology / Haematology experience oChemotherapy administration and in-depth knowledge of chemotherapy regimens and haematology / oncological conditions oExperience of advising on the management of treatment related toxicities and of using CTCAE to assess patients
Desirable
oExperience in outpatient chemotherapy setting oPrevious experience at Band 6
Skills, Abilities and AttributesEssential
oCannulation and phlebotomy skills oCompetent in the care and management of Central Venous Access Devices (CVAD's) oAbility to work autonomously and as part of a team oFlexible attitude to working o Excellent communication skills, written, verbal, non verbal and with the multidisciplinary team
