The successful candidate will have an innovative approach to teaching, learning and assessment, high expectations of learners and staff, excellent communication skills and high standards of performance management.Reporting to the Assistant Principal for Vocational and Foundation Learning, this is an opportunity for an ambitious and dynamic leader with a first class understanding of a high quality learning experience and the ability to lead a diverse staff team to achieve outstanding levels of performance. The broad ranging Centre offers provision from Entry Level to Level 5 to learners on full-time study programmes as well as part-time adult courses, community learning and HE.The post holder will develop, lead and grow the Centre and take responsibility for developing strong relationships with key stakeholders. Naturally, we will expect you to be data driven, have strong leadership skills and proven experience of leading on the delivery and development of high quality provision across a range of subjects, together with excellent people management abilities.Key Responsibilities1.To lead the effective development and delivery of teaching, learning and assessment of learners and employers.2.To provide an innovative, effective and efficient curriculum offer that meets the needs of learners and employers in line with national, regional and local government agenda.3.To work with curriculum teams and cross college service areas to ensure College recruitment targets are met and all associated funding streams are maximised.4.Be fully responsible for student recruitment, retention, achievement and progression data and take action where required to ensure that improvements are made and targets are met.5.Ensure that the College’s quality assurance procedures are rigorously implemented across all programme areas to guarantee ongoing improvements, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.6.To effectively manage all resources associated with the learner environments, the availability of materials and equipment.7.Maximising the use of modern technology within the framework of the learning process.8.Promote the sharing of best practice across the College.9.To ensure full and effective recording and collection of student information to satisfy internal and external requirements.10.To effectively communicate all aspects of the College business both within curriculum teams, and other College services in line with the College Communication strategy.11.To regularly update, review and interpret data pertaining to the work of the area, ensuring that all service areas have up to date data, and use the information for planning and decision making.12.To build, develop and effectively manage the team using the college’s performance management system to ensure high performance and business efficiency13.To manage appropriate budgets in accordance with the College’s Financial Regulations.14.To work closely with cross college teams to promote, respond and deliver both internal and external initiatives as appropriate.15.Take responsibility for fully preparing teams for both internal and external inspection in line with the Education Inspection Framework and the college’s strategic directions16.To work with curriculum teams to ensure that the learners’ experience is of the highest quality and that specialist services within the College are fully utilised.17.To provide support teaching cover where required18.Work effectively with the College’s internal marketing team and partner agencies to promote and raise the profile of the area.19.To produce relevant and informative management information and reports as required.20.To maintain a safe and secure learning environment by undertaking regular risk assessments and informing the Assistant Principal of any concerns21.To provide support where required in the management of all programme areas across the college where required by the organisation.22.Any other duties, of a similar level of responsibility, as may be required.
