Job Description
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Category Manager who will be responsible for identifying and delivering to market the optimum product assortment for a leading pureplay garden products company with a strong presence in the UK and European retail marketplace. With a mix of being home-based 1 day per week and the rest working in their modern offices in the Shropshire region, they are a truly forward thinking and award-winning company with a genuine entrepreneurial spirit.
About the job:
The Category Manager will be required to develop expertise in their designated category. You will be responsible for identifying trends and innovations for the customer-base, whilst delivering the product strategy via the selection of new products. You will put the customer journey at the forefront of every decision you make using analysis and insight to bring to market a product range that will drive sales and optimise profits. This will involve nurturing relationships with the current supply base as well as sourcing new suppliers via collaboration with Purchasing and NPD teams, negotiating cost prices and agreeing trading arrangements.
About the person:
To be considered for this position, you need to have experience in a Buying or Category Management role, preferably in a consumer facing business where you will have a proven track record of spotting trends and getting products market in an efficient manner. With experience of dealing with suppliers in the far east and the EU, you will also be highly commercial, with outstanding negotiation skills and a good understanding on financial levers including pricing, margin and profit. In addition to this, you will have good people skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence both internal and external stakeholders.
