This is a brand-new role for the UK Division of VINCI construction and this role will support and assist the Central Sustainability Team under the direction of the Sustainability Manager, to achieve the divisional environmental objectives through the 5 Delegations and Shared Service functions.
You will assist with proactively identifying sustainability challenges and opportunities that will promote and monitor all aspects of performance and progress in meeting with the company’s Environmental Ambition.
This role will specifically focus on scope 3 data, carbon management and requires an understanding on PAS 2080, LCA methodologies and GHG Accounting Principles.
The role ideally will be based from our Head Office in Watford though will consider applicants based in London, Manchester or Birmingham.
Responsibilities
Support on carbon emissions quantification, comparisons and assessment for products, projects and services using LCA methodologies where needed and maintain Scope 3 GHG assessment for the organisation and ensuring there is robust coverage of emission sources from reported and available data to support external disclosures and performance monitoring
Develop, maintain and improve the available datasets and databases that enable Scope 3 assessments for the organisation
Support the development of dashboards and KPI monitoring for carbon across Scope 1, 2 and 3
Support the development and maintenance of a PAS 2080 Carbon Management System for the organisation through the establishing and updating standards, procedures and templates
Undertake internal audits with auditing teams to review compliance against carbon management standards and PAS 2080 system to maintain alignment.
Implement and manage core processes and procedures within the integrated management system to ensure compliance and continual improvement to PAS 2080.
Support and engage with internal stakeholders to embed carbon management principles and requirements into the integrated management system
Work with plant and fleet, procurement and commercial teams to identify and drive opportunities and mechanisms for low and zero carbon solutions
Provide subject matter expert advice to the delegations and business units on best practice for incorporating energy efficiency and carbon reduction into their own projects and programmes
Produce guidance, training materials and toolkits to help streamline the delivery of carbon management for all business units where possible
Maintain good working knowledge of energy efficiency and carbon reduction solutions and keep abreast of emerging innovations.
Experience
2-3 years’ experience within the UK, particularly within the built environment
Educated to degree level in engineering, science or environmental studies.
Knowledgeable about climate change and wider sustainability topics: decarbonisation over the life cycle of projects, resource efficiency, circular economy, design for durability, deconstruction and re-use, renewable energy & alternative fuels, sustainable solutions etc. in the context of construction
Prior experience in carbon management in infrastructure or similar construction projects with working knowledge of the principles of PAS2080
Proven experience in carbon accounting and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
Effective engagement with multidisciplinary stakeholders including project teams and supply chain on sustainability matters
Good analytical, presentation and report writing skills using Microsoft Packages such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
Prioritisation, organization & task coordination skills
Passion for Environmental Sustainability, driving innovation and an ability and desire to positively influence and develop those around them
