Role Summary Reporting to the Capital Markets CAO, the Capital Markets Regulatory Risk and Oversight Manager will lead a global team responsible for understanding the landscape of regulatory regimes that may impact Northern Trust’s Capital Market business. The Regulatory Risk and Oversight Manager will work with business unit stakeholders to mitigate regulatory risk by supporting the actions required to achieve compliance, traceability, and operational readiness. This role will include engagement with senior leaders within the business and supporting areas, collaboration with first and second line regulatory change and compliance functions, and communication with regulators. Therefore, excellent communication skills and knowledge of the Capital Markets business are essential. Key Responsibilities
Complete the organizational design of the Capital Markets Regulatory Change Team Provide leadership and guidance to the team Represent and advocate for Capital Markets at industry and internal regulatory forums Enhance the regulatory change control environment through the adoption of procedures for identifying, assessing, and implementing regulatory change Support the ongoing development of frameworks, enhanced standards, and related procedural documentation Stays abreast of regulatory changes that may impact Capital Markets globally Consult on new product, process, and client opportunities providing guidance on the regulatory impacts and respective risk profile changes Liaises with senior risk, compliance, legal, and regulatory change partners
Knowledge/Skills
Expert knowledge ofregulations, regulatory change, and regulatory oversight including the specific regulatory regimes governing Capital markets Ability to identify problems, develop, communicate, and implement solutions as needed Capable of analyzing, simplifying, and explaining complex issues in non-technical language. Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact and manage expectations with senior-level audiences, stakeholders, and management Strong organization, attention to detail, time management, planning skills, and the ability to handle multiple competing priorities Excellent interpersonal skills displaying the ability to engage diverse set of stakeholders, understand their viewpoints, build long-term relationships, create a collaborative and inspirational environment within the team Ability to influence and persuade others, implement change, and drive decision-making across a complex organizational structure
Experience Preferred
Extensive years of related experience in financial services, with a solid understanding of Capital Markets and its global regulatory obligations preferred Multi-discipline management experience preferable.
