Camp Cook + Events Assistant with Celtic Harmony
Reports to: Heritage Director
We have an exciting opportunity for a combined role of Camp Cook + Events Assistant at Celtic Harmony Camp, the outdoor prehistory settlement near Hertford, SG138 8NY.

exciting new position will involve assisting the Chef (Heritage Director) provide healthy food
for school residential trips and family days out / overnight stays. We serve nutritious meals
made from fresh ingredients, so school children and visitors can return to their Prehistory
experience refreshed and ready to go! The role also involves the maintenance of facilities
including café, washrooms, Prehistory Centre and roundhouse dormitories to ensure a high
quality visitor experience for families and schools.

Experience in a similar role would be an advantage but full training will be provided for the successful candidate with potential for development. Uniform will be provided, and you will
be working in a friendly team within an educational and hospitality environment. The role
includes assisting the chef with food preparation, serving food, washing up and cleaning the
kitchen area.
Working pattern: a 17 week summer job from 11 April to 6 August, with the possibility of future employment. Working from 16 to 40 hours per week on a monthly rota with some split shifts from 7am to 8pm.
Location: Celtic Harmony Camp, the Iron Age settlement, Brickendon, Hertford, Hertfordshire SG138NY.
Main Duties:
Catering
● Assist the chef with general kitchen duties
● Assist in designing school and family menu
● Assist in delivering a quality catering service in line with health, safety and hygiene requirements.
● Minimising wastage when preparing meals and using equipment correctly.
● maintaining high standards of presentation of food and replenishing counters keeping them looking attractive throughout the service time
● assisting customers whenever necessary, listening to any comments they may have and relaying these to the Manager or Chef
● Assist with the service.
● speaking to each customer in a friendly, helpful and professional manner
● Serving food and drinks.
● Washing up
Maintenance Standards
● Assist with maintaining visual impact quality standards for delivery of experiences for general public and school groups, including tidying and cleaning workshop areas.
● Cleaning and maintenance of facilities including toilets, washrooms, Café, Prehistory Centre.
● Cleaning of 3 family washrooms (each with shower and toilet)
● Cleaning of toilet facility (12 toilet cubicles and sinks)
● Replenish soap, toilet rolls and hand towels
● Cleaning of Prehistory Centre using brushing and mopping machines.
● Clean of roundhouse dormitories.
● Notify manager of deficiencies or repairs required
● Stock and maintain supply rooms

Qualifications, experience & behaviours required for this role:
● Previous catering experience with knowledge of basic food safety and safe use of knives & kitchen equipment.
● Ability to organize time and prioritise activities.
● Able to work in a pressured environment.
● Flexible and able to work as part of a team and individually.
● Reliable and punctual
● Wanting to exceed targets and progress within the charity
● Own transport as Celtic Harmony Camp is in a rural area In return we offer
