Vacancy - Cabinet Maker & Department Manager
Our client manufactures bespoke kitchens and interiors. Using streamlined production methods and extensive experience they endeavor to provide quality cabinetry for any room. They create projects for trade clients as well as their own ranges for direct customers. The workshop is split into three main departments which all work closely together. We are looking for an experienced cabinet maker to lead a small team in the Assembly Department.
Build – Creates frames, doors, drawer fronts, plinths, panels, mantles etc.
Finishing – Paints and applies finishes to projects.
Assembly – Creates carcasses, shelves etc. and brings the whole project together ready for installation.
The role will include;
• Understanding our cut lists and extracting information from sketchup models.
• Creating rip lists to ensure efficient use of materials.
• Time management of projects and liaising with workshop manager to ensure deadlines are met.
• Manufacturing carcasses and shelving, attaching frames, levelling units, hinging and hanging doors, fitting drawers and various mechanisms such as bins and corner pullouts, attaching handles.
• Using table saws, track saws, spindle moulders, routers, drills, lamello and domino machines.
• Managing workflow alongside one or two other cabinet makers of various experience.
• Ensuring all members of the department are working safely and within our production methods.
• Liaising with other department managers with regards to quality and timings of projects.
• Quality control on all completed projects.
Candidate does not need previous management experience but a willingness to train under supervision into a management role is a must.
Breaks – 15 minutes paid, taken between the hours of 10:30 and 11:30. 30 minutes unpaid, taken between the hours of 12:30 and 14:00. Most employees take 15 minutes at 11:00 and 30 minutes at 13:00. The company has a break room with sofas, fridge, microwave, kettle, and coffee machine.
Holidays – 28 Days are allocated per year, but it is calculated hourly to allow flexibility when taking time off for appointments etc. Bank holidays are usually taken from this allocation but flexibility to work them can be negotiated if safe working practices allow it. They have a Christmas shut down every year which differs depending on which day Christmas falls on, but is usually 1 – 2 weeks, this is also deducted from the yearly allowance.
Overtime – Overtime paid at 1.33 of an employee’s basic hourly rate provided the workshop needs the additional work doing. It is never expected for an employee to do overtime but very occasionally it may be asked.
Pension – A workplace pension is provided after 3 months of employment.
Unpaid Time off – This is also available if production allows it.
Parking – We have onsite parking both in front of and behind our workshop but it is on a first come first served basis. We have yet to experience anyone not being able to park though.
