Job Summary:
Our client is on the lookout for a Material Buyer/ Planner to join their business based in Redditch. The Material Buyer/Planner will be responsible for placing purchase orders, following up with suppliers, arranging the delivery of the product to their distribution centre and providing support to management as required.������
Ideal candidate background
- Proven materials management and purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- SAP experience
- Experience of scheduling, MRP, MPS and consignment stocking
- Demonstrative proactive approach and initiative in problem solving.
- Ability to communicate and interface diplomatically and effectively with all levels of the
- organisation, external suppliers etc.
- Able to work on own initiative and as member of small team.
Main Duties
- Responsible for all purchasing functions related to the procurement of goods and/or raw
- materials as assigned, including order placement and follow up. Negotiate lead times with vendors.
- Resolves daily supplier issues.
- Expedite orders to ensure no delays to production, attends daily production shortage meetings.
- Reviews material quantities and dates required determining accurate start and completion dates and communicates any issues to management.
- Supports and participates in business improvements including Lean and 5S activities as required.
- Plan and place material purchase orders to ensure that material flow to the plant is in line with the customer demand/company plan (MPS/MRP), with the use of schedules, consignment stock, kanban, and other order systems as required.
- Investigation and approval of Supplier Invoice Issues
- Actively manage Supplier Delivery performance through the use of KPI's and routine performance reviews with critical suppliers.
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required within the scope of the role.
