Job Summary:



Our client is on the lookout for a Material Buyer/ Planner to join their business based in Redditch. The Material Buyer/Planner will be responsible for placing purchase orders, following up with suppliers, arranging the delivery of the product to their distribution centre and providing support to management as required.������



Ideal candidate background




  • Proven materials management and purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • SAP experience

  • Experience of scheduling, MRP, MPS and consignment stocking

  • Demonstrative proactive approach and initiative in problem solving.

  • Ability to communicate and interface diplomatically and effectively with all levels of the

  • organisation, external suppliers etc.

  • Able to work on own initiative and as member of small team.



Main Duties




  • Responsible for all purchasing functions related to the procurement of goods and/or raw

  • materials as assigned, including order placement and follow up. Negotiate lead times with vendors.

  • Resolves daily supplier issues.

  • Expedite orders to ensure no delays to production, attends daily production shortage meetings.

  • Reviews material quantities and dates required determining accurate start and completion dates and communicates any issues to management.

  • Supports and participates in business improvements including Lean and 5S activities as required.

  • Plan and place material purchase orders to ensure that material flow to the plant is in line with the customer demand/company plan (MPS/MRP), with the use of schedules, consignment stock, kanban, and other order systems as required.

  • Investigation and approval of Supplier Invoice Issues

  • Actively manage Supplier Delivery performance through the use of KPI's and routine performance reviews with critical suppliers.

  • Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably required within the scope of the role.
