A Manufacturing client of ours in the Wickford area are recruiting a Buyer to join their growing team. This is a full-time permanent position working Monday - Friday 8.00am - 4.00pm and paying �26,000 - �35,000 per annum depending on experience.

This role will start an office-based position however after you have completed 6 months, there will be an opportunity for hybrid working (3 days office, 2 days from home).

As Buyer, you will be responsible for the Purchase of goods, materials and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery to ensure continuity of supply. Key Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Procurement of materials and services in-line with the business needs
  • Negotiate with suppliers to reduce Project Spend and ensure all items for procurement are within budget
  • Monitor and appropriately report cost and delivery performance against the relevant budgets and timing plans
  • Consistently identify value for money within the vendor base.
  • Monitor relevant Engineering releases, requisitions and follow up with manufacturing
  • Identify new resourcing opportunities through market research or by other means; liase with the purchasing manager on any potential opportunities
  • Identify expediting needs, and investigate any invoice, cost or quality queries
  • Attend project reviews as required, equipped with all relevant delivery information
  • Monitor and managing supplier performance in accordance with agreed KPI's
  • Maintain an awareness of the progress of relevant product markets
  • Ensure that suppliers are working within the business code of ethics and to the company's terms and conditions
  • Carry out any ad-hoc tasks as required by the Purchasing Manager
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal customers and provide a high level of customer service, including recommending solutions and alternative supply options
  • Work closely with Project Managers to understand project demand
  • Provide back-up support for Procurement across Group as required (Procurement team of 2 at Wickford site however 4 others at other sites to cover as required)
  • Continually build relationships with internal stakeholders to achieve the successful completion of projects

Skills and Experience required to be considered for this Buyer position:

  • CIPS part or fully qualified
  • Ability to prioritise, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Strong sense of urgency & attention to detail
  • Analytical skillset with a methodical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • A proven background in negotiation
  • Applied knowledge of Procurement and negotiation
  • A minimum of 2 years previous Purchasing experience within a faced paced manufacturing and production environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of MRP systems & Excel
