We have an exciting opportunity to join our Team, based in our European Headquarters in GlenrothesBUYERCOMPETITIVE PAY AND BENEFITSEDUCATION: Educated to degree standard or equivalent in a relevant disciplineEXPERIENCE: 3 – 5 years related experienceLOCATION: Glenrothes - HybridRole OverviewResponsible for ensuring Flexcon purchases accurate items, in the precise quantity, at the appropriate price within the agreed upon time-frame so that it is available at the proper locations that have significant financial impact. Determines purchasing actions through investigation, research, and analysis for a defined range of suppliers and / or purchased items. Commodity focus with broad exposure on liquids (adhesives, topcoats, solvents, chemicals, additives) metalised films (3rd party converting) and specialised films (example: reflective films), polyester films and liners and polypropylene films, paper and polyethylene coated paper release liners and polyethylene films and metalised films (for consumer battery) and packaging materials.What you’ll be doingUse discretion and judgement to make raw material purchasing decisions through analysis of purchase history, identification and analysis of seasonality, request for / analysis of forecast information or other analysis as required. Launch raw material and non-raw material purchase orders. Expedite / delay purchase orders as needed. Adjust supplier ship dates and/or expedite supplier shipments as needed Obtain quotes from suppliers. Contact vendors to obtain material information for Flexcon. Support raw material rejection process and raw material rejection debits. Minimum monthly run reports to identify open and aging supplier rejections. Close supplier rejections within 30 days.Analyse, recommend and implement approved cost saving opportunities Verify received goods with plant personnel and investigate all discrepancies in quantity, yield, price and delivery. Create, change or delete stock items to maintain 95% + accuracy of Flexcon’s purchasing files.Resolve questions or invoice problems for accounts payable.Seek and provide information and interact with suppliers as needed to allow Flexcon to successfully manage the amount of inventory throughout the entire supply chain (raw material through finished goods). Through primary interaction with supplier understand their capabilities, product offering and fit with Flexcon. Assess and report both internally and to the supplier on supplier’s performance against identified Key Performance Indicators. If necessary, develop a Corrective Action Plan to address areas where the KPI’s are not being met. Present recommendations and initiate actions to improve purchasing function(s) and interaction with other Flexcon departments through the use of Lean tools.Learn and apply Seek and provide information and interact with suppliers as needed to allow Flexcon to successfully manage the amount of inventory throughout the entire supply chain (raw material through finished goods). Insure supplier contact information is accurate and up to date in Flexcon’s system. Generate monthly report that highlights: roadblocks and actions / support required and determine if objectives are met. Attend and support business and quality reviews. Attend and participate in monthly purchasing meetings. What you’ll haveEffective verbal and written communication skills.
