Buyer

A manufacturing and engineering services business supplying the defence sector require a Buyer. Applicants should be comfortable; tendering, negotiating, and managing suppliers.

The Buyer will join a team of Buyers reporting to a Supply Chain Manager. It's hoped that the Buyer will add strategic value to the function and be competent in it's commercial, negotiation and supplier management strategies.

Specific duties of the Buyer include:

• Tendering for goods and services in-line with broader company objectives
• Management of approved supplier list
• Supplier Management and development activities in conjunction with stakeholders
• Contract Management activities - are suppliers adhering to KPIs/SLAs etc
• Supply market intelligence and investigation of new sources of supply
• Support Supply Chain Manager in development of procurement process, systems and governance

Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Procurement experience, ideally within a Buyer, Strategic Buyer, Supplier or Contract Management capacity
• Experience of tendering and negotiating with suppliers would be advantageous
• An understanding of contract management and supplier management techniques
• Knowledge of defence industry would be advantageous
• Some CIPS study or willingness to study CIPS would be advantageous
