My client is looking to recruit a Business Unit Manager for their engineering business located in Wiltshire. They are a global business with various locations throughout the world and are a market leader within their industry.

This is a key role within the business, and you will be part of the management team ensuring all of my client's products are manufactured/delivered on time and to the correct specification.

The main duties within the role of Business Unit Manager will be:

  • Day to day responsibility for multiple product cells within the business.
  • Manage capacity and resource constraints, ensuring production is maximized at all times.
  • Manage Financial dimensions (Budget, Stock, Overtime, Manning)
  • Manage performance improvement through effective planning and KPI attainment
  • Build and promote teamwork, to maximise OEE, Quality, Safety, Delivery and focused on succession planning
  • Lead and drive daily and weekly Business Unit meetings to make sure the next 24 hours, minimum, are successful and problems are attacked.
  • To ensure all daily, weekly, monthly activity is conducted and deliver to the required standard,and cadence, or better.
  • To develop employees by identifying training needs and formulating Personal Development and robust succession plans.
  • To work with our Customers on-site or off-site to address Quality, Cost/Delivery concerns.
  • To be the face of the business unit to the Customer.

The skills/experience required within the role are:

  • Able to create strategy deployment plans (Future) and can also work (Now) critical issues as they arise
  • A great coach/communicator that can solve Business Unit level issues systematically and objectively with the team
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • Relentless approach to problem solving
  • Interpersonal - Leadership and management skills
  • Previous experience within a similar role within manufacturing (ideally of engineered products)
  • Ideally educated to HNC/HND level as a minimum within engineering.
  • Lean / continuous improvement manufacturing management experience.

The role will involve working a 37-working week on days Monday to Friday.
