IRIS is expanding its Data Warehouse (DW) and Business Intelligence (BI) team to support various growth initiatives. These include centralised reporting, machine learning, faster onboarding of acquisition data, and the capability to serve ad-hoc data requests across the business.
As a Business Intelligence Developer, you'll be at the forefront of these exciting developments. Your role involves supporting day-to-day activities, including ingesting multiple data sources into the main DW and preparing datasets for reporting. You'll primarily work with financial, CRM, telephony, and support desk data, using tools like MS SQL, SSIS, and Python.
Creativity and adaptability are crucial in this role. Each report and acquisition uses different systems and processes, requiring an inventive and proactive approach to managing and preparing data. Ingenuity and future-proofing are key skills for success.
You'll need to engage with stakeholders, scope out work, and understand business logic and processes. A can-do attitude, inquisitive nature, and problem-solving mindset are essential. Over time, the role will evolve to include aspects of solution architecture in addition to data engineering.
Please note that this role will involve working from one or more of our office locations (Peterborough, Slough/Heathrow Approach, Manchester, Wigan) at least one day per week.
What will you be doing?
As a BI Developer, your primary responsibilities will include:?
Data Ingestion from Multiple Sources: Importing and processingdata from various sources like Excel/FlatFile, Web (JSON/XML), SQL Databases, and Direct Integrations.
PreparingAd-hoc Datasets for Reports: Assessing, cleaning, and transforming raw data into meaningful datasets tailored for specific reporting requirements.
Supporting Testing of Existing & New Dataset/Report Changes: Conducting quality assurance and user acceptance testing for datasets and reports.
Developing Reports Using Standard Tooling: Creatingdetailed reports using tools like Report Builder and QuickSight Q.
Perform DBA Tasks to Support Data Hygiene: Maintaining database integrity, security, and performance through regular maintenance tasks.
What are we looking for?
We're seeking candidates with the following qualifications, skills and experiences:
Degree in Computing based subject (desirable).
Significant commercial experience working with MS SQL Server and Python.
High proficiency in MS Office 365, including Excel.
Working knowledge of MS Azure and AWS (desirable).
