Job Description
Location: London or Birmingham
Base salary: £36300 to c.£45350 depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 15% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

As a Business Intelligence Analyst at HS2 you will be responsible for designing and leading the design and implementation of business intelligence reports and visualisations, to support and enable HS2 in the gaining insight through the effective use of information and data.
About the role:
To have overall accountability for the life-cycle of specific Business Intelligence projects. This includes identifying a specific business need, data gathering, specifying requirements, determining the best tools, data and techniques to address it, undertake analysis, ongoing deliverables and presentations
To be responsible for providing ongoing support for business intelligence reports, resolving issues and supporting change requests
To be responsible for engaging with Product Owners, Information Asset Owners, IT and Business colleagues to elicit the underlying causes of business problems and inefficiencies, supporting their design objectives with clear insights
To be responsible for inspiring best practice for business intelligence within the team and across HS2
To be responsible for working with other team members and the Senior Data Analytics Manager to identify, plan, develop, and deliver data and analytics services
To be accountable for designing, developing, and deploying reporting and data management process-flow systems through to implementation
To be responsible for providing user training and support to develop business intelligence skills and self-service capability across the HS2
To be responsible for keeping up to date with business intelligence best practice and emerging technologies across the industry.

About you:
Skills:
Ability to design, develop and test complex business intelligence reports
Ability to select and implement appropriate technologies to deliver resilient, scalable, and future-proofed data solutions.
Ability to identify and respond to problems in databases, data processes, data products and services
Ability to use standards and tools to design, code, test, correct and document programs and scripts from agreed specifications and subsequent iterations
Ability to produce high quality documents and reports and present to a variety of audiences, including internal stakeholders at various levels in the organisation
Ability to determine and document the explicit and implicit needs and requirements of various stakeholders
Knowledge:
Knowledge of SQL, DAX and Power Query
Knowledge of data modelling concepts
Knowledge of data visualisation and report design using Power BI
Knowledge of a range of cloud-based tools and technologies and importance of the role of business intelligence, data integration and process flow.
Type of experience:
Experience of developing and maintaining end-to-end business intelligence reports to meet user needs.
Experience of applying data engineering techniques.
Experience of producing re-usable data models.
Experience working in an BI/analytics function in a complex fast paced organisation, such as government, retail or financial services
