Job Title: Business Development Manager

Location: Remote with travel across the North Region

Salary: Up to £35,000 + uncapped Commission (£50,000)

Benefits: Company pension scheme, car allowance, generous holidays

Travel Requirements: Regular travel to clients across the North region

Hours - Full Time: 37.5 hours p/w; typically 9am-5pm

We are looking for a self-confident person who can deliver our strategic objectives. Working autonomously, you will receive excellent support from Commando Joe’s and our partner company who is also an industry leader in the education industry, currently supporting over 800 schools.

Experience in the Education sector is vital to the success of the role, as you will need to be confident talking to Head Teachers and Senior Leaders, so sector knowledge is vital.  We will consider applications from those who have worked in education, but not necessarily in a sales role. 

A sales role naturally requires someone who is tenacious and driven to hit targets and get results, which by its nature does mean that there will always end up being a bit of flexibility around start and finish times, and travel is obviously going to be required, but we do have a great work life balance, which enables downtime during weekends and particularly during school holidays.

Key Responsibilities for the role:


  • Proactively meeting or exceeding set monthly sales targets by self-generated leads and follow-up on leads provided from within the business
  • Developing and maintaining relationships which may result in customer acquisition and/or additional leads
  • Scheduling and conducting sales meetings with prospective clients on time and in a professional manner
  • Researching industry trends to identify new channels
  • Reporting to the management team with relevant information and feedback regarding sales process, status, and conversion rates
  • Developing and completing proposals for new business and presenting proposals to potential clients
  • Creating, amending, and overseeing all proposals to ensure they are sent to prospective clients correctly
  • Develop new initiatives for creating leads, and increasing potential sales opportunities
  • Liaising with wider Commando Joe’s team to ensure consistent relationship with customers

Key skills, experience, and attitude to be successful in your application:


  • Experience in the education sector is essential
  • Ideally, you will have had previous experience in sales, relationship management and business development
  • Prospecting skills
  • Sales planning
  • Selling to customer needs through a relationship management approach
  • Territory management
  • Presentation skills
  • Strong written and oral communication
  • Valid UK licence and access to your own vehicle
