We are representing a manufacturer of cutting tools to recruit a Business Development Manager for the North of the UK. This role will inherit an account base that is currently delivering just over £1.5m made up of industrial distributors and buying groups. There is a plethora of sales data which will enable the successful candidate to prioritise accounts and plan their time effectively, supporting the branches with end-user sales in industries such as aerospace, ship-building and precision engineering.

The successful candidate will have a background in industrial products, preferably cutting tools but this is not essential. Knowledge of distribution is also essential, this could come from working for one of the big industrial distribution companies, or having sold into them. This is a home-based role and a location anywhere north of the M62 could work. There are several areas of high-density customers but with effective diary management these can be serviced without having to spend too much time away from home.

We would be keen to hear from you if you:

  • Have sold industrial products through distribution

  • Are analytical and strategic in your approach

  • Are capable of working autonomously

  • Enjoy getting out in front of customers and chasing up new opportunities

  • Have a track record of managing c£1.5m revenue and achieving growth

  • Can develop end-user relationships to get products specified

There is a field-based technical sales team within the region to support with project sales, and an eCommerce team to support smaller-spend customers and potentially help you convert some of those into Key Accounts.

The basic package for the role is in line with market rate, the bonus scheme leaves potential for very strong earnings.

There will be an initial conversation with Sauce People, followed by a Teams or face-to-face 1st interview (depending on location and diaries). Final stage will be a formal interview with presentation.
