The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the energy markets, commodity trading processes, and the ability to analyze complex data to drive informed business decisions. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and IT professionals to enhance trading strategies, optimize processes, and contribute to the overall success of our commodities trading business.Responsibilities:Market Analysis:Conduct comprehensive analysis of global energy, oil and gas markets to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.Provide regular updates and insights on market conditions, pricing, and regulatory changes that may impact commodity trading.Data Analysis:Analyse large datasets related to commodity trading activities, including pricing, supply and demand, and market trends.Utilize statistical models and data visualization tools to extract meaningful insights for decision-making.Process Optimization:Evaluate and optimize existing trading processes to enhance efficiency, reduce risks, and improve overall performance.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and implement streamlined solutions.Risk Management:Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate exposure to market volatility and external factors.Work closely with risk management teams to assess and monitor risks associated with commodity trading activities.Stakeholder Collaboration:Collaborate with traders, finance professionals, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure alignment with trading strategies.Act as a liaison between business and IT teams, translating business needs into technical requirements.Regulatory Compliance:Stay abreast of regulatory changes in the oil and gas industry and ensure that trading activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.Work with legal and compliance teams to implement and enforce compliance measures.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA) is a plus.Proven experience (X+ years) as a Business Analyst in the energy, oil and gas industry, with a focus on commodity trading.In-depth knowledge of energy markets, trading processes, and risk management.Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.Proficiency in data analysis tools, such as Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.Understanding of regulatory frameworks governing commodity trading in the energy, oil and gas sector.
