Building Control Surveyor

Main Purpose of Job:

We are seeking a motivated Building Control Surveyor to join Brentwood Borough Council. The successful candidate will assist the Building Control Manager in ensuring compliance with building regulations and allied legislation within our service area.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Evaluate building regulation applications for compliance


• Conduct inspections to ensure adherence to legislation and codes of practice


• Provide advice and assistance to stakeholders


• Keep abreast of changing legislation and techniques


• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders


• Serve notices and carry out enforcement actions when necessary


• Maintain records and prepare reports as required

Qualifications and Knowledge:

• Full Building Surveying Degree or equivalent


• Five years of relevant experience or membership of relevant professional bodies


• Registered as a Class 2 Building Inspector, Category A

Skills and Experience:

• Strong communication skills


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software


• Ability to maintain clear records and write reports


• Good decision-making skills


• Sound knowledge of building regulations and allied legislation

Other Requirements:

• Valid driving license and access to transportation


• Dependable and able to handle demanding workloads
