Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 or Above

Position Overview:

They are currently seeking an enthusiastic and skilled SEN Teaching Assistant with proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 or above. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with hearing impairments and other special educational needs, ensuring they receive the tailored assistance they need to succeed academically and socially.



Responsibilities:




  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with hearing impairments and other special educational needs, both inside and outside the classroom.

  • Use British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate communication and understanding for students with hearing impairments.

  • Support students with personal care and behavioral management, promoting their independence and well-being.

  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents/guardians on a regular basis.



Requirements:




  • BSL Level 2 qualification or above is essential.

  • Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs, preferably within a school setting.

  • A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to respond to the changing needs of students.

  • A commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in education.
