Job Description
Bristol Bears Community Foundation is the club’s award-winning charity, delivering programmes that are proven to change the lives of people across the region. We work with over 8,000 people from the local community each year and are regularly recognised for our work on a national scale, winning numerous Parliamentary Awards since 2008.Our mission is to ‘Inspire Our Community Through The Power of Sport’, delivering a broad range of programmes across four key areas: Education & Employability, Health & Wellbeing, Inclusion & Disability, and Older People.The Foundation is seeking an influential leader to join us as our new Chief Executive Officer. The successful candidate will be the lead advocate for the charity, working closely with the board of trustees on the ideation and execution of charitable objectives.The Chief Executive Officer will develop a long-term strategy and budget to drive growth, sustainability and compliance, overseeing the delivery of projects and ensuring the success of all operations.Key responsibilities:LeadershipDevelop a robust Foundation strategy in consultation with stakeholders, trustees and Bristol Bears Rugby.Exemplify the Bears culture with principled approach, working with trustees to create a structure that supports the ambitions of the charity.Develop strong relationships across key internal and external stakeholders such as charity partners, governing bodies, partnership schools and supporters.Showcase inspirational leadership, motivating staff and volunteers to advance engagement.Strategy and fundraisingDeliver innovative fundraising campaigns and clear operational policies to ensure targets are met.Serve as the primary external spokesperson for the charity, working with key media partners to grow brand awareness and understanding in local and national markets.Increase visibility of charitable objectives through activation on Bristol Bears matchdays at Ashton Gate.Maintain relationships with local partners including the Bristol Rugby Combination to cultivate growth.Grow corporate partnerships through events and activations and engagement with Bristol Sport.Develop visibility and accessibility to rugby in underserved communities across Bristol through engaging programs.Finance and governanceEnsure regulatory and compliance duties are observed including safeguarding, risk registers, business ethics and PRL/RFU minimum operating standard requirements.Liaise with trustees to formulate annual budget, monitoring and reporting performance effectively.Knowledge and compliance of relevant charity legislation and regulations.Development and cultureProvide support and clear guidance to staff, including annual appraisals and development opportunities.Champion productivity, actively following, developing and promoting Foundation policies including diversity and inclusion.Drive the positive culture of the Foundation in line with Charities’ mission.The successful candidate will have;Significant strategic leadership and senior management experience in the charitable or sporting sector.Skilled in collaborative working with proven partnership and networking skills.Ability to manage and communicate financial strategy and budgets.Excellent communication and inter-personal skills with a passion for charity and sport.A knowledge of rugby is desirable, but not essential.Full driving license and must have access to a vehicle.Safeguarding statement:Bristol Bears Community Foundation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.
