Job Description
Vivienne Westwood is looking for a
Bridal Pattern Cutter
to join the
Bridal and Couture Team
in the London Head Office, on a
full-time
basis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collection & Specials Pattern Development: Bridal Made to Order and Made to Measure, Special Projects, Production Patterns and Grading.
Create and cut out set of patterns for MTO collection.
Work on developments of pattern for new styles and shapes applicable across Bridal and Couture collections.
Create production master patterns to a high standard.
Modify existing patterns to adapt Made to Measure and Custom requests, preferably digitally whenever possible.
Supervise in house machinists during the sampling or create toiles when needed.
Review pilot samples and grading samples ahead of production for approval.
Meet and greet VIP/Celebrities and clients, and conduct fittings when required.
Hold fittings for MTO and Couture collections, able to provide technical solutions and improvements.
Collaborate on the creation of MTO and Couture Collections with technical and style input.
Provide PD with technical information relative to garments construction and consumption.
Advise with print and embroidery placements.
Assist with studio organisation.
Quality control during sampling and production.
Address and solve any technical and quality issues arising during sampling, production or with fabrics.
Advise on size grading guidelines for production and producing scaled up or scaled down versions, enabling the garment to be reproduced in different sizes and able to do so manually or digitally.
Support machinists (in house and remotely for external manufacturer) with sewing indications and technical direction.
PROFILE & KEY SKILLS
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in pattern cutting and the production field.
Experience with flat pattern drawing, draping, and Lectra is essential.
Experienced in client fittings.
Knowledge and understanding of sewing and finishes at production and Couture level.
Can work independently.
Possess a good eye for detail, shape and proportion.
