Role: Branch ManagerIndustry: Building Materials / Builders MerchantsRegion: Trafford Park, ManchesterSalary: £48,000 - £60,000 (DOE) plus bonus, company vehicle etc.OverviewWe've been retained by a leading builders merchant, who are looking to appoint an experienced Branch Manager to lead and develop their successful site in the Stockport area of Greater Manchester.Reporting to the Regional Director, as Branch Manager, working closely with your departmental managers, you will have overall responsibility for branch operations and sales volumes and margin.Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Operations:Manage branch sales staff to ensure achievement of branch sales and profitabilityWork with senior management to set sales strategyMonitor daily / weekly sales performance within the branchWork with suppliers on target product promotionsAccountable for achieving and exceeding customer service levelsProactively identify changes and improvements to branch operationsOverall management responsibility management for sales and operations teamsStrategic leadership - set clear objectives and provide motivation to ensure maximum productivityCreate a culture which encourages teamwork, ownership and accountabilityDevelop and execute strategic plans for the branch including short, mid and long term forecasting and resource planningManage monthly and annual cost budgets, seeking more cost-effective alternativesDevelop and maintain strong commercial relationships with suppliers, ensuring all purchasing at branch is conducted to the best commercial advantageEnsure branch stock profiles are maintained to achieve targets for sales volume and profitability, customer service levels, purchasing strategies, and product mixUtilise central stockholding and distribution to assist branch control of stock and to take maximum advantage of bulk buyingSupervise periodic stock takesCompliance:Undertake performance reviews in line with company proceduresCreate personal development plans for team membersIdentify performance, absence and disciplinary issues and manage accordinglyMonitor the local market to maintain awareness of trends, price fluctuation, competitor, customer activity, and trading opportunitiesComplete management reports to timescale, detailing performance and any remedial action as requiredEnsure that statutory requirements in transport law is met in full, to safeguard the Branch Operator LicenceEnsure that risk assessment procedures have identified all and any areas of concern in transport and warehousing activities, and that remedial action has been takenEnsure you are familiar with health and safety rules and regulations, and that your responsibilities as an employee, in respect of health and safety, are carried out in fullProvide leadership in all aspects of:Health & SafetyHRTransportSite managementSecurityCandidate RequirementsBehaviours:Customer focusedStrategic managementCommercially focusedStrong communicatorPersonableAnalyticalTarget drivenExcellent negotiatorDetail consciousSkills & Experience:IT competentSales drivenLeadership experienceWhat next?For further information on this Branch Manager role within the builders merchants sector, please apply online and one of our team will be in touch to discuss further
