BookTrust - Head of Book Selection and Purchasing Permanent contract; salary: BookTrust Grade J (£48,426 - £52,501)BookTrust is the UK's largest reading charity. We work in close partnership with publishers, teachers, librarians, and a range of experts to select and buy over three million great books a year and give them to children and families. Our book gifting programmes get children reading all over England and Wales.We are looking for someone to head up our book selection and buying and to manage our very important relationships with publishers. You will be setting up and running book selection panels with a range of experts and working with over 30 publishers to buy books and create special editions, so an understanding of the publishing industry and an ability to make good relationships with a wide range of people is essential. You will also need a good knowledge of children's books, familiarity with the principles of book production and pricing and a proven track record in buying or selling books or coeditions and managing budgets.You will be working to the Director for Children's Books, as part of a small team at BookTrust with deep expertise in children's books, authors and illustrators, publishers, book promotion, events and awards - and a passion to get children reading.Find out more about who we are, including a job description and details of how to apply at: Closing date: Monday 24 September at middayInterview date: tbc
