As part of our expansion, we are seeking a skilled Boiler Engineer to join our team for an exciting energy-from-waste project in the United Kingdom.
Position Overview:
As a Boiler Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the operation and maintenance of boiler systems within our energy-from-waste facility. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe performance of boilers, contributing to the generation of renewable energy while adhering to industry regulations and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Boiler Operation: Operate and monitor boiler systems to ensure optimal performance and energy generation.
Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on boiler equipment to minimize downtime and ensure reliability.
Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot issues related to boiler operation, implementing corrective measures promptly to maintain efficiency.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and team members.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of boiler operations, maintenance activities, and performance metrics for reporting and analysis purposes.
Collaboration: Coordinate with other team members, including operators, technicians, and management, to optimize plant performance and address operational challenges effectively.
Continuous Improvement: Recommend and implement improvements to enhance boiler efficiency, reliability, and safety standards.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency situations, including equipment failures or malfunctions, and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks and minimize impact on operations.
Training: Provide training and guidance to junior staff members on boiler operation, maintenance best practices, and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in operating and maintaining boilers, preferably in an energy-from-waste or power generation environment.
Strong knowledge of boiler systems, including controls, instrumentation, and combustion processes.
Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards, such as HSE guidelines, Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), and Boiler Efficiency Directive (BED).
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues efficiently.
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Flexibility to work varying shifts and respond to emergencies as needed.
