Board Director and Associate Directors

The University of Cumbria provides diverse routes into higher education, into and through employment, and across and into the region. We specialise in portfolio and programmes aligned to a range of learner needs and types – on and off campus – delivered with and through a range of strategic employer, educational and stakeholder partnerships. The University has over 14,000 students and 1000 staff. Student numbers are projected to increase, with a key driver being the University’s expanding higher-level apprenticeship activity. The University has campuses in Carlisle, Lancaster, Ambleside and London, with a new presence being established in Barrow.The University’s Board has a vacancy for a Director from 1 August 2024 and for a small number of Associate Directors. Associate Directors are not members of the Board; their role is augment the effectiveness of the committee of which they are a member.The Board has scope to use a wide range of skills and experience among Directors and Associate Directors, areas of particular interst are specified in the applicant pack, however anyone who believes that they have appropriate skills and experience is encouraged to apply. The current Board has limited representation from minority groups. We would especially welcome applications from people from black and minority ethnic communities, or from disabled applicants. The University has five Directors nominated by the Church of England.
