Community midwives work in local teams, providing an integrated service for women and their families in the area. As lead midwife at a local community clinic, you will work as part of a team to support women and babies before, during and after birth.Each team provides:antenatal care and support with home birthing, for women and families within Camden, Islington, Barbican and Sohosupport for women within our birthing centre in the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson wing, next to University College Hospitalpost-natal care, in-clinic and via home/community visits.You will be on-call once or twice monthly for home births. A shift pattern including night and weekend working is in place at the birthing centre this attracts a pay supplement.You will probably already be working as a Band 6 midwife and looking to broaden your skills and experience. You will be comfortable working autonomously, as part of a well-supported team. Applications are also accepted from midwives currently working at Band 5 who have completed their preceptorship.As the role offers the opportunity for clinical rotation into all areas of our maternity service, you will be looking to maintain and develop your wider clinical skills.Main duties of the jobAs lead midwife at a local community clinic, you will work as part of a team to support women and babies before, during and after birth.You will be on-call once or twice monthly for home births.
