About the Role:
The Biomass Trading Team is responsible for the sourcing and physical trading of Drax’s biomass portfolio - this entails the purchasing and optimisation of biomass and specifically development of the global biomass market. As a Biomass Trader, you’ll be focused on the optimisation and contract management of the biomass supply chain position, ensuring continuous supply, minimizing cost and realize value. Day to day you’ll develop, communicate, execute, monitor and report the Physical biomass position and Trading strategy. Negotiating sales and purchase contracts, you’ll execute trades to optimize Drax’s near-term biomass requirements and storage capabilities, ensuring that such trades comply with the relevant risk management, sustainability and technical policies. Excellent relationship building will be key, keeping key internal stakeholders informed of potential deals and the execution thereof. You’ll ensure deals are captured accurately and timely in all position monitoring and fuel delivery planning models following execution. You’ll project-manage new fuel-related initiatives as they arise, whilst managing cross-functional interfaces effectively to develop viable, value-adding initiatives to the approvals stage.
About you:
Experience of global physical commodity markets, procurement and logistics is a must – knowledge of biomass and/or agricultural market would be an advantage. You’ll understand sustainability and traceability systems and the nuances of developing markets, with an interest in actively influencing these. You’ll possess excellent negotiation skills, strong communication and analytical skills with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the organization and external counterparties. As a committed team player, you’ll display initiative and be able to lead and manage projects within strict timescales and budgets.
