About the Role
As a BIM Technician, you’ll report directly to the BIM Lead. Your responsibilities will include setting up and managing a studio-wide Revit library, creating custom Revit families, and assisting architects and designers with asset creation. You’ll also play a key role in developing new workflows and guidelines, providing one-on-one mentoring on best practices, and collaborating on project strategies and model setups. In the future, you may take on a complex project on BIM Level 2, showcasing your skills and expertise.
BIM Tasks
Library Management : Own, audit, and expand the studio’s Revit library.
Family Creation : Develop new custom Revit families for projects.
Support : Assist architects and designers with asset creation.
Workflow Development : Help in developing new workflows and related guidelines.
Mentoring : Provide one-on-one mentoring on best practice workflows.
Collaboration : Work with the BIM Lead on project strategies and model setup.
Model Auditing : Audit and troubleshoot Revit models.
Project Tasks
Project Packages : Work on project packages in Revit.
Content Development : Develop Revit content as needed for planning application documents, tender, or construction stages.
Your Qualifications
Educational Background : Degree in architectural technology, architecture, construction, or BIM technician.
Industry Knowledge : Strong understanding of building codes and industry standards.
Software Proficiency : Excellent knowledge of Autodesk Revit, family creation, auditing, and editing skills.
Parametric Modelling : Excellent understanding of parametric modelling, including parameter types and schedules.
Coaching Skills : Ability to coach others on family creation/editing processes.
Standards Knowledge : Good knowledge of ISO19650 standard and documentation (BEP, EIR, AIR, etc.).
Technical Skills : Good knowledge and previous experience working with Cobie data sets and clash detection workflows.
Additional Software : Good knowledge of AutoCAD, Navisworks, and any other clash detection/Cobie software.
Desirable Skills
Advanced Excel : Advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
3D Modelling : Good knowledge of Rhinoceros 3D.
Scripting : Familiarity with scripting plugins such as Dynamo, Grasshopper, and Python.
BIM 360 : Experience in the BIM 360 environment.
Visualization : Experience with visualisation plugins such as Enscape or Twinmotion.
Other Software : Experience with other Autodesk software and working knowledge of Adobe InDesign.
