Billing Operations Lead

Warwick (1 day per week)

12 Month Contract (Perm opportunity)

Job Purpose

To lead the billing operation team for one of our three main transmission charges. In total, this collects around �7bn in revenue on behalf of the whole electricity industry. Need to ensure that processes are developed to reflect ongoing change to the charging methodology.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee and be responsible for all the charging processes for one of our three main transmission charges - Transmission Network Use of System charges, Balancing Services Use of System charges (BSUoS), and Connection charges. Includes both the collection of charges from customers, and payments to Transmission Owners and other industry parties providing services.
  • Ensure that all charges and invoices are accurately calculated and delivered in accordance with Codes and License requirements.
  • Manage customer relationships, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and queries are responded to quickly and clearly
  • Line management responsibility for onshore charging analysts, and requirement to develop close working relationships with offshore team who undertake a lot of the charging tasks
  • Operate all SOX and other compliance controls
  • Oversee the security calculation and monitoring to mitigate financial risks
  • Perform complex analysis of large quantities of data, to support the business processes and requests for charging information
  • Produce internal briefing material for Senior Management / Director level
  • Communicate and present changes to charging methodology to customers and other stakeholders together with appropriate explanations
  • Identify and direct both IS and business process improvements to make charge setting, risk management and revenue forecasting processes more efficient and effective
  • Support other teams with the design of changes to charging methodologies, and then ensure changes to charging processes and systems are implemented successfully
  • Support the Revenue Manager to foster the whole Revenue team

Knowledge, experience and technical knowhow

  • Strong leadership skills, support the Revenue Manager to lead changes to the team; develop and challenge the team members to deliver excellence performance
  • Highly competent at manipulating and querying very large quantities of data in spreadsheets and databases, using Excel and Power BI.
  • Ability to seek and set challenging goals for themselves; and to work under their own initiative to meet those goals and drive improvements
  • Effective communication skills, including ability to produce and deliver accurate written reports and presentation material to internal or external audiences
  • Experience in building effective internal and external relationships combined with strong negotiating and influencing skills
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple activities and issues to set time constraints that can evolve with organizational change
