The Bid Manager will inspire and lead the bid team, working closely with estimators, planners, engineers, designers, the proposals team, operational support, designers, supply chain partners and other stakeholders as needed. Success will be measured on the creation of high-quality, winning bids, which set Morgan Sindall Infrastructure apart from others in the industry, whilst also exceeding client expectations. The role can involve adaptable working, with some travel expected to the Rugby office. Potential for co-location in other offices to support key bids, as agreed with line management. There may also be requirement to attend additional in-person meetings or site visits to suit business needs.Ideally, this role would suit a tenacious, ambitious, and driven individual who embraces the challenge of working within a high-performing and supportive team. They should thrive under pressure and possess the ability to juggle multiple commitments with ease while also demonstrating the ability to take constructive feedback positively.Responsibilities:Plan and manage the end-to-end bid processCarry out sector and Client research to identify industry best practice, Client ‘hot buttons’ and win themes for incorporation into the bidLead development of the win plan and win strategyCoordinate and lead the governance process, ensuring appropriate approvals are in placeEnsure Morgan Sindall Infrastructure work winning processes are effectively and consistently implemented and audit bids against these processesDevelop a costed bid plan and monitor spend as the bid progressesDevelop and maintain a clear bid programme to enable accurate progress reportingAllocate actions, resources and timescales for all bid activities to ensure that the bid is completed on timePlan, arrange and lead bid meetings, such as win plan reviews, kick off meetings, progress meetings, risk workshops, design meetings and settlement meetings, maintaining accurate records and minutesPlan and arrange meetings with external stakeholders, such as designers and supply chain partnersRecord, analyse and manage issues, risks, opportunities and change throughout the bidProvide inspiration, support and constructive challenge to other bid team members to enable everyone to perform at their bestEnsure that all Client requirements are understood and reflected within the bidActively contribute to the internal settlement and adjudication processReview the written proposal for compliance, accuracy and suitabilityLead tender presentations, interviews and negotiations with ClientsReview feedback and lessons learned on both successful and unsuccessful submissions to promote continuous improvementLead internal post submission feedback reviews to drive improvementAnalyse and share learning from Client post tender feedback to drive improvementLead a handover with operations and effectively communicate the bid strategy and solutionsUsing and updating the Dynamics 365 customer relationship management tool to manage the governance process and to update information on future opportunitiesTo be successful in this role, you will:Educated to Degree level or equivalentBid management training, such as Shipley or the Winning Bids MasterclassAble to produce governance packs that articulates clear messages, both written and orallyProficient user of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPointPrevious successful bid management experience in a similar infrastructure environmentExperience managing designers and the design processExperience with stakeholder managementExcellent knowledge of construction industry practices and standardsStrong understanding of commercial aspects of bids, such as typical terms & conditions and procurement modelsChartered Engineer e.g. with the ICE or CIOBExperience undertaking auditsWhat's in it for you?Below is a selection of benefits that are available to you at Morgan Sindall Infrastructure.Generous holiday entitlement with the option to buy five daysFlexible and adaptable workingFamily friendly policies and work/life approachMentoring programmes and continuous learning supportContributory pension schemeRecognition scheme and long service awardsCar scheme and Private Medical Insurance (if applicable to role)We also provide the option to participate in our share-save scheme; discounts including cycle to work and gym membership; a support and advice service for colleagues and their families, and more.About the Highways Team:The UK’s strategic and local road infrastructure is a vital asset for communities and businesses, supporting economic prosperity and social connectivity.As a major tier 1 contractor and framework partner, we play a key role in providing multi-faceted engineering services to keep these vital arteries running, ensuring smoother, safer, less congested journeys for everyone.Our teams work on complex, high-profile national motorways, trunk road schemes as well as local authority road networks to deliver comprehensive, integrated services including design and build.
