About the role:
Astute are looking for a Bids Engineer for our client, who will be reporting to the Bid Manager and will be responsible for processing proposals from concept to order stage including, identifying, and eliminating technical and commercial risks while developing proposals and submitting bids
The Bid Engineer will be responsible for following the Bid process, ensuring that every bid goes through the relevant process gates and all forms / documentation / approvals have been completed and received, along with final review before submission to the customer

Responsibilities and duties:
As the Bid Engineer you will:
  • Review tender detail and kick off opportunity as per the bidding process.
  • Liaise with the sales and technical / engineering teams to define solutions and deliverables so that you fully understand the requirements of the opportunity, while keeping informed on progress.
  • Follow the bidding process for all opportunities.
  • Analyse databases, together with review and completion of costing documentation.
  • Create a proposal document in line with expectations and agreed margins set out with Sales & line management.
  • Hold discussions with other departments including engineering, sales, commercial and purchasing to obtain costs, technical information, engineering times, order information, Bought-in costs and tender approvals.
  • Attend regular bid review meetings with the Sales, Commercial, Purchasing and Managers to review submissions prior to release to Sales.
  • Work with CAD files to assist layout preparation, estimating quantities and time including man hours.
  • Produce formal specifications for supplier RFQ's and scope documents, managed the supplier response time scales and accuracy of prices so that we have the best solution at the best costs in the timescales required to achieve the bid submission dates.
Professional qualifications:
We are looking for someone with the following:
  • HNC in a technical or engineering discipline.
  • Demonstratable understanding of material handling/process or heavy engineering related costing.
  • Competent with schedule, auto CAD and costing systems.
Personal skills:
The Bid Engineer role would suit someone who is able to:
  • Work individually as well as part of a group
  • Prioritise tasks based on importance and act on them accordingly.
  • Problem solves quickly and effectively, whilst always prioritising safety.
