Location: Croydon
Salary: £95 to £100 PAYE per day
Hours: 8am to 3:30pm
Type: Full-time
School Type: SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) School
Age Range: 5 to 19 years old

About the Role

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people? Do you have the skills and dedication to support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join an amazing team as a Behaviour Mentor at an Outstanding SEMH school in Croydon.

Key Responsibilities


  • Student Support: Work one-on-one and in small groups with students to provide tailored support, helping them to manage their behaviour and emotions.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement and monitor behaviour management strategies, working closely with teachers and other staff to create a positive learning environment.
  • Mentorship: Act as a role model and mentor, building strong, trusting relationships with students to support their personal and academic growth.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and parents to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Plans.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Keep detailed records of student progress and behaviour, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.

Qualifications and Skills


  • Experience: Previous experience working with children and young people, particularly those with SEMH needs, is essential.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of SEMH challenges and effective behaviour management techniques.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience and Empathy: A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine desire to support the well-being and development of young people.
  • Resilience: Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
