About The Role
Maslow's is looking for a talented Bar Manager to join our management team. Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will be a natural people person, you will be engaging, have a thirst for excellence and keep abreast of changing trends. A leader and teacher, willing to share your gift with your team. You will offer a fun and relaxed atmosphere to guest and team alike, to deliver on outstanding beverage offering at Mortimer House.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Teamwork
To be accountable for all the 3 Bars across the venue. Accountable for menus and seasonal menu's changes, the unique and visually appealing drinks, events, and promotions. Ensuring the smooth running of the bar in alignment with the kitchen and Front of House. Work with the bar team on research and menu development.
To be accountable for GP controls, effectively manage labour budgets and controllable/fixed costs, stocktaking, and orders.
To support the General Manager to mentor, appraise and review the bar team. Implement and monitor policies & procedures for their department.
To collaborate with all Management, including the Restaurant Managers, Head Chef, House teams and Support Office to create a positive leadership culture to ensure motivation and morale remain at the highest level.
To undertake and allocate training of the staff, especially all new starters. This will include carrying out inductions, appraisal reviews, objective setting and support and guidance in conjunction with the People Team.
To ensure high-quality detailed pre-shift briefings are carried out before every service to improve product knowledge and service quality.
Accountable for all team recruitment, training, and development.
Product & Quality
To liaise with the Executive Chef, ensuring the smooth running of the bar in alignment with the kitchen and Front of House.
To liaise with Membership and Marketing teams on monthly events programming.
To ensure that all operating standards are adhered to in order to achieve maximum levels of service and profitability.
To ensure the daily/weekly rotas for your department are completed.
To ensure that relevant grooming standards are adhered to, both personally and by the team.
To attend all internal meetings required according to the meetings schedule.
To handle guest requests, enquiries, complaints, and communicate accordingly.
To grow and build the reputation and contacts in the neighbourhood for the Bar.
To regularly work alongside each team to gain their perspective, build trust and also identify areas for development or opportunity across the business.
Process & Policy
To collaborate with the General Manager and People team to ensure that all team advertising and recruitment is carried out according to Mortimer House standards.
To implement and lead initiatives to improve efficiencies and other cost control.
To liaise with the kitchen on daily operations, food safety and quality control.
To ensure the daily/weekly cleaning rotas for all departments are completed.
To ensure daily cashing up procedures are completed to company standards with the assistance of other managers.
To collaborate with the HODs to ensure accurate weekly staff rotas have been compiled by the designated manager, maximising service levels, considering employee work patterns and minimising employment percentages.
To oversee and uphold the correct handling and processing of all stock, cash and credit card payments in line with company policy.
To complete stocktakes as required. Ensure ordering and deliveries are completed weekly in line with stock holding levels.
To support the General Manager in setting and managing annual budgets in accordance with Director's projections
Essentials
Minimum 3 years' experience at a Bar Manager level with multi bar site
Business and accounting acumen
Knowledge of alcohol and service laws and the confidence to enforce them
Hospitality, catering or mixology qualifications
