The Staff Bank and Agency Service was re-launched in August last year and is working to provide a complete temporary staffing solution for all of our wards and departments. You will need to be a registered nurse (Adult) with a valid NMC number. You will need to be a reliable, enthusiastic and a self-motivated individual, You will need to possess excellent communication skills and be adaptable to changing situations.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be responsible for planning, organisation and delivery of care for patients and the supervision of junior staff within the team. The post holder will be expected to take charge of the ward as required. About usIf you are being interviewed you must accept an interview slot in the system to continue, even if you have arranged with the managerTo be eligible for Health and Care Worker visa sponsorship you will usually need to be paid at least 25,600 per yearWe provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.At County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust our aim is to always deliver excellent care with compassion to deliver the highest quality of care our patients deserve. The wellbeing of staff is important to us we have a dedicated Health and Wellbeing team who provide support on a range of topics.We particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates as BAME and disabled people are currently under-representedFull Job Descriptions can be found in the adverts supporting documentsJob descriptionJob responsibilitiesTo assess patients needs and develop, implement and evaluate programmes of care. - To organise the delivery of nursing care, deploying staff effectively. - To be aware of, and communicate to team members, changes to patient information and treatment plans, both verbally and in writing. - To adhere to NMC standards of record keeping. - To assist the Ward Sister in setting, monitoring and maintaining standards of care. - To participate in nursing audit and service improvement activities eg Essence of Care - To be aware of resource constraints and the importance of working within budget. - To provide advice and act as role model to other members of the team. - To be proactive in managing risk and maintaining patient safety. - To supervise the work of nursing support staff, ensuring tasks undertaken have been delegated appropriately. - To contribute to the day-to-day management of the Directorate, co-operating with colleagues to provide an appropriate level of nursing service and to address bed management issues. - To participate in education and training of junior staff. - To involve patients/carers in the planning and delivery of care. - To participate in clinical supervision.
