Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Working with the Chief Nurse and Chief Medical Officer to deliver a robust and evolving quality assurance framework and governance structure to ensure accountability and transparency and where quality assurance is integrated alongside quality improvements.
The key areas of work include but are not limited to reduction of clinical and non-clinical risk, ensuring robust incident investigations and that processes are in place for acting on recommendations and learning from such, provision of legal services and ensuring effective oversight of the ward to Board quality governance.
The post holder will ensure that there is a robust quality assurance framework and governance structure and its associated accountability framework.
Qualifications:
1. Band 8D and above Registered Nurse (or equivalent Allied Health Professional) qualification (or demonstrably equivalent experience).
2. Extensive experience in a senior leadership role within healthcare governance.
3. Proven strategic thinking and leadership skills.
4. In-depth knowledge of healthcare management principles.
5. Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Person specification
Education and Qualification
Essential criteria
Masters/Higher degree or equivalent supplemented by specialist training to doctorate or equivalent level
Research skills and experience.
NHS leadership development programmes (or equivalent).
Post graduate management qualification and continuing professional/managerial and leadership development.
Evidence of ongoing professional development and education.
Experience
Essential criteria
A significant track record of achievement at a senior managerial level in a large complex organisation preferably within the NHS.
Broad experience of leading teams of staff within a multidisciplinary environment, and in a performance managed culture.
Significant experience of working at a senior level within a complex organisation.
Significant financial experience, budget management.
Demonstrable success in influencing organisations to implement beneficial change.
Demonstrate a track record of strategy development, including producing high level strategic documents and plans to internal executive teams and external agencies.
Significant experience of building effective multi-disciplinary teams and networks, including across organisation boundaries

Excellent keyboard skills to ensure the post-holder can manage the highly complex demands of managing and manipulating information at all levels, and provide reports.
