Working closely with colleagues to achieve optimum clinical outcomesKey responsibilitiesEstablish and manage a clinical caseload as appropriate to the serviceTo work collaboratively with other Clinicians, including Medical and Nursing staff to support the Service through evidence based practice.To participate in Clinical Education and Training to other Health Care Professionals where appropriateClinical ResponsibilitesTo undertake physiotherapy assessment, clinically diagnose and implement agreed treatment plans if appropriate in a manner that respects peoples privacy, dignity and individuality.To rotate at agreed regular intervals as part of the band 5 rotation programme.To work flexibly across a 7 day week and late shifts according to service need and cover requirements.To be a member of the multidisciplinary team and actively participate in M.D.T. meetings.To ensure effective internal and external two-way communication with patients, carers and all other Health and Social Care Professionals regarding all aspects of patient care. Providing and receiving complex information which requires empathy and reassurance. Communicating where there may be barriers to understanding.To maintain accurate professional documentation in line with the CSP standards and local policies and procedures, contributing to documentation monitoring as required.To liaise regularly with Physiotherapy Team Leaders / Clinical Specialists regarding caseloads, treatment progression and ongoing care.To assist where necessary in the provision of cover for the service as a whole in times of annual leave / sickness etc.Clinical GovernanceTo comply with the Health and Safety Policies of the Trust including undertaking all mandatory training as directed by the Training & Development Department.To comply with departmental / organisational procedures and guidelines.To ensure that any equipment, furniture or building in need of repair is reported to the correct authority as necessaryTo comply with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Standards and Rules of Professional Conduct.To participate in Clinical Audit as appropriate in each speciality area.To ensure treatments offered to patients are based on the best available clinical evidence, under the guidance of Physiotherapy Team Leaders / Clinical Specialists.To comply with the Data Protection Act and Caldicott recommendationTraining and DevelopmentTo actively participate in the in-service training programme.To attend relevant training courses, disseminating information from training attended as required.To complete appraisals and a Personal Development Plan in line with clinical rotations.To undertake regular training and mentoring sessions with senior staff to monitor and develop clinical and professional skills.To teach and advise carers and other Health Professionals to ensure provision of good patient care.Person SpecificationQualificationsHealth Professions Council Registered Physiotherapist.BSc (Hons) Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.ExperienceMust demonstrate a knowledge of team / group dynamics and the role of a Band 5 Physiotherapist within a team.To have a clear understanding of the role of a Band 5 Physiotherapist in a specialist hospital.Experience in all clinical areas relevant to the posts rotationsExcellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to think quickly, assess clinical situations and take decisions upon that information.Ability to liaise effectively within the multi-disciplinary team.Ability to motivate patients and other staff.Must be able to demonstrate awareness of current NHS issues.Must be able to demonstrate the confidence to take independent action.To have a knowledge of audit tools and awareness of organisational and clinical standards in Physiotherapy.Ability to actively promote the role of the physiotherapist within the Walton Centre NHS Trust.OtherMust be flexible in approach to work patternsTo take part in service cover duties given appropriate notice.Must be able to comply with the Trusts No Smoking Policy.Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality.Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
