We are backed by former Wales and Lions captain Sam Warburton OBE (Brand Ambassador), and England Rugby Union legend Sir Clive Woodward OBE (Board Advisor), and since October 2022, Wales and Ospreys winger George North (Brand Ambassador)We are looking for a passionate and talented Back-end Engineer with significant experience building back-end services with Ruby on Rails. You should have a minimum of 3 years commercial experience, a positive attitude, and a passion for building high quality user experiences using software engineering best practices and patterns.ResponsibilitiesBuild robust, scalable, secure and fast APIs and servicesWork as part of a highly engaged and communicative agile teamUse your technical know-how to bring new ideas to our productsHelp foster an enviable engineering culture, combining high standards and outputUse software engineering best practices to ensure that we have a solid and scalable technical foundation for our businessRequirementsDemonstrable experience building back-end services with Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQLDeep knowledge of the Rails and Ruby ecosystem, tools and best practicesExperience working with common Rails gems like Sidekiq, Devise, RSpecDesigning and building RESTful APIs for consumption by web and mobile applicationsA strong understanding of software architecture patterns and when to use themRelational Database design, implementation, optimisation and maintenanceExperience scaling back-end services in a rapidly growing business with very high traffic spikes during salesAn understanding and appreciation of:automated testingcyber-security issues and mitigationsapplication performance issues and solutionssoftware design patterns and when to use themAgile, cross-functional and empowered team backgroundEnjoy working with product owners, front-end and devops engineers to create great productsStrong communication, critical thinking, creative problem-solving, interpersonal and analytical skillsPassionate about your craftBonus / additional skillsExperience building ecommerce and marketplace productsInterest and understanding of functional programming languages, and experience building services with Elixr and PheonixCloud infrastructure build and maintenance, especially using IaC and Kubernetes on AWSComputer Science or other relevant degree Becoming part of a passionate and fast-growing company
