Paint Shop Assistant
Newton Aycliffe
The Recruitment Bunker are recruiting exclusively for a Pain Shop Assistant for a leading automotive company with stunning build workshops based in Newton Aycliffe and Darlington.
Our client is experiencing a period of rapid growth having secured a long-term contract for exciting new bespoke hand-built vehicles to widen their existing product range. This role will suite a highly desirable car enthusiast, working for a company of fellow enthusiasts.
Overview of the Role:
Paint Shop Assistant
Salary – £28,000
Holidays: 25 days plus 8 Bank holidays
Pension
Employee Referral Scheme
40 hours per week Monday-Friday (early finish each Friday afternoon)
Location – Newton Aycliffe, just off the A1(M)

Responsibilities
Company Policies: Manage and follow the quality, health, safety, and welfare policies of the company
Preparing bare metal surfaces of vehicle shells, panels and parts to a high standard ready for paint
Preparing equipment and materials ready for use
Masking relevant areas prior to application
Preparing each work piece and moving panels and materials to the appropriate area of the facility at the start and end of each task, loading and unloading booths
Maintaining and cleaning equipment and working areas each day
Observe all health and safety methods and regulations and correct use of all PPE
Following instructions from the senior paint technicians
Essential Skills
Experience of working within a Paint Shop environment
Accurate masking ability with high level of attention to detail
A good working knowledge of industry best practice in paint technique and products
Quality focussed approach with a pride taken in the end result and standard of each task undertaken
Application of spray fillers and primers to a high standard
Good eye for flattening and finish
Be comfortable working on vehicles of high value
Good attitude to teamwork, enthusiasm and the ability to take instruction
Desirable Skills
Experience in an automotive paint and body setting in a low volume classic/prestige environment
Polishing skills and detailing
A good working knowledge of cars and vehicle assembly processes
