Reporting to the Director of the Global IT Audit that is based in London, the candidate will leverage their existing subject matter expertise to drive technology audit validation.The Specialist, Audit Services, will be responsible for developing validation approaches and ensuring successful execution of validation testing of both internally reported issues, and external/regulatory findings. The role will need to interact and engage with all levels of management from across Audit Services, business partners, as well as business and control functions. This high-profile role will engage with global senior management of Northern Trust, and will support the Director as a primary point of contact for Audit Services technology issue remediation activities. The Specialist will play a key role in communicating, and supporting stakeholders. The role will also be involved in educating audit partners on application of the technology finding validation methodology, as well as looking to continually improve Audit processes. This role will require a seasoned professional, functional expertise, and detailed execution rigor to manage and coordinate effective regulatory issue validation. The role will also require strong and confident communication with both internal as well as external/regulatory contacts.Principal ResponsibilitiesLead technology audit validations for strategic programs to deliver challenging audit assignmentsCommunicate audit issues effectively to senior stakeholdersManage multiple complex objectives concurrently, including resourcing, workpaper review, and schedule managementManage project resources to accomplish complex scopes of work and objectives in tight timeframesIdentify emerging risks and react quicklyDevelop and maintain robust relationships with multiple stakeholders, including senior management, and team membersInteract with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior management and regulatorsLeading by example to, guide, coach staff, and foster an environment which encourages partner participation, teamwork, and communicationWork with subject matter experts, other audit teams, and co-sourced resources to define and deliver validation approachesDraft clear and concise audit deliverables, and presentations, to ensure timely communication of risks and conclusions to senior and executive management Maintain familiarity of and technical expertise with business unit(s) organizational structure, personnel, activities and products, new product development, financial performance, and risk/problem managementMaintain personal education on current technology, and stay current on global regulatory rules and changes within the industryCommunicate audit results, deliverables, and project status in clear, succinct, and easy-to-understand termsSkills / ExperienceRequired SkillsIdeally educated to degree level or equivalent professional experienceSeasoned auditing experience in the financial industry or public accounting is preferred, including risk assessment, coverage planning, and execution managementStrong project management skills, with attention to detail, time management and planning skills to manage competing prioritiesProven cyber risk and security control experience, with the ability to develop and articulate complex issuesEffective problem solving, conceptual thinking, quantitative and analytical skillsExperience assessing and auditing compliance, risk management, and regulatory related technology controls and tools, across a variety of platforms, against established standards and control frameworksValuable CompetenciesContemporary knowledge of global, regional, and local technology and data compliance, risk management, and experience with regulatory requirementsExcellent oral and written communication skills (e.g., ability to communicate both with junior staff, senior leaders, and deliver executive level writing)Develop trust built relationships via well-developed listening and negotiation skillsConfidence and expertise to negotiate with senior management, security professionals, and regulators in an audience-appropriate mannerDemonstrated experience managing a team of professionals effectively and efficientlyEffective and independent perspective with a proactive and pragmatic approach in communicating issues to stakeholdersAbility to adapt and react timely in a changing and dynamic work environment, tight deadlines and variable workloadsWorking with Us:As a Northern Trust partner, greater achievements await.
