Our Disease Biology department has an immediate opening for an Associate Scientist to join the Autoimmune Team. The post holder should have proven practical experience in immunological assays, with demonstrable skills in problem-solving, the ability to work collaboratively, and enthusiasm to learn new skills and contribute to drug discovery. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and motivated scientist to become part of a high-performing and dynamic team.MAIN PURPOSE OF JOBTo conduct and design cell-based assays, with appropriate guidance from colleagues and managers, enabling the advancement of the Company Autoimmune Disease Programmes and associated technology capabilities.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES• Conduct and analyse cell-based assays to support ImmTAAI (Immune Modulating Monoclonal TCRs Against Autoimmune Disease) screening activities, following set protocols and/or supervisor’s guidance in accordance with set timelines.• Carry out lab work for autoimmune projects assigned by the manager and contribute to defining questions and suggesting lines of investigation within these projects.• Design and analyse experiments to answer specific biological questions.• Communicate experimental results verbally in team meetings and in precise written reports.• Provide support to other scientists within the Autoimmune Disease Biology Group when required and contribute to the operational running and maintenance of Cell Biology laboratories and equipment.EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGEEssential• Experience in basic cellular and immunological based techniques, including culture of cell lines, isolation of primary human immune cells, lymphocyte functional assays (measuring proliferation and cytokines), flow cytometry, ELISA.• Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to analyse data and record results in a concise and timely way in compliance with agreed protocols.• Presenting experimental results with excellent verbal and written communication skills.• Ability to contribute to scientific team discussions, especially with regards to the interpretation of their own data.• A team player with experience working within a diverse team environment.Desirable• Pharma or biotech laboratory experience• Theoretical knowledge and understanding of immunology and autoimmune diseases• Experience in bioinformaticsEDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONSBSc. or MSc. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related discipline
