Associate Professor – Community and Criminal Justice

By joining our Faculty, you will help prepare and develop entrant professionals and leaders working in the criminal justice system with the knowledge and expertise to make a significant difference to lives, communities and society. The Division of Community and Criminal Justice is part of the School of Applied Social Sciences, one of four specialist schools in the Faculty, also including Leicester School of Allied Health Sciences, Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery, and Leicester School of Pharmacy.
Teaching reflects the latest developments in the sector and a number of our courses have professional accreditations. Many of our students are employed by the MoJ, HMPPS or the local Police Service, gaining vocational experience alongside their studies. Our staff are passionate about educating the next generation of community and criminal justice professionals.
Role
The CCJ Division has an excellent reputation for the delivery of academic and professional qualifying courses. The Division invites applications from highly-motivated individuals to support the strategic development of the Community and Criminal Justice Division, liaising with external partners linked to our professional courses (the Police, MoJ, HMPPS) and who will line manage the Policing team.
Ideal Candidate
This position would suit someone with experience of programme/project management and leadership in an academic or practice setting within the field of community and criminal justice. The successful candidate will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, be well organised, and willing to contribute to academic citizenship activity in the Division. The post holder will engage in some teaching and student support, and there will also be opportunities for research and/or knowledge exchange activity.
The successful candidate will need significant relevant professional experience and a postgraduate qualification in a subject aligned to criminology, community or criminal justice. You will also ideally hold Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE) OR have a commitment to achieve this.
