Parametric is part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, the asset management division of Morgan Stanley. We partner with advisors, institutions, and consultants to build portfolios focused on what's important to them and their clients. This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 2-3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Application Support and Automation team at Parametric:
We are responsible for supporting all of the production applications at Parametric. This includes on-prem and cloud based proprietary and off the shelf applications.
The automation team is responsible for developing and maintaining all inbound and outbound file transmissions and internal automations.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for individuals that have a strong curiosity and passion for learning new things, while continuously challenges oneself to build things better and more scalable. 
The Production Support Engineer is responsible for the deployment, monitoring and troubleshooting of applications. This applies to both off-the-shelf and in-house developed applications.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain knowledge base articles
  • Deploy applications using established methods focused on minimizing production impact and reducing user interruption
  • Work with Development teams to turn escalations into Development items
  • Develop and maintain scripts using Python and PowerShell for monitoring and automation of tasks
  • Work within the SQL DBMS to troubleshoot data issues and data consistency concerns
  • Deep dive into Java Springboot (Linux) and IIS (Windows) servers to troubleshoot application issues on the fly in production
  • Triage and resolve tickets for supported systems and applications

SKILL SET
Required Experience: 3+ years
Skill set: DevOps / Production Support
PRIMARY SKILLS

  • Experience with SQL including writing and understanding queries
  • Experience supporting a 24/7 environment.
  • Experience with DevOps practices including Octopus, JIRA, Confluence or equivalent platforms.
  • Scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python) and continuous improvement experience
  • Experience with Windows Server and IIS
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills targeted to a variety of audiences including technical and non-technical users
  • Experience with Gitlab and Octopus deployments/configuration
  • Experience with VMWare and VMWare automation
  • Experience supporting a Windows based environment including basic server administration
  • Patience and attention to detail is essential
    Good to Have Skills
  • Experience with Linux/UNIX based platforms
  • Experience with monitoring platforms such as DataDog
  • Financial Services industry experience
